Poppy Stool

Arched legs to reference the arched structures of Palestine and Islamic architecture as a whole. This stool uses marquetry as a means of strengthening and wood joinery. Each poppy flower is comprised of a central piece of walnut that is the strengthening joint with a surround of petals made from cherry wood that will darken over time into a deep, rich shade of red. Similar to the Sukar Chair, the Poppy Stool utilizes symbols of Palestinian identity as the method of which the piece gains its strength. It is not just a visual expression but one of strength and beauty.

Walnut, and cherry wood.
